OMG.....In the Newpaper. Dated : 11th April 2007DESPITE her fear, this plucky woman did her best to stop two men from getting stabbed.
Madam June Goh describing how she tried to stop the fight.
Coffee shop helper Madam June Goh, 49, even went to get first-aid for the victim of the stabbing.
The incident took place outside a coffee shop in Holland Village on Saturday.Madam Goh, who has been working at the shop for 18 months, said that at 8pm, the place was full of patrons, most of them watching an English Premier League match on the two television sets there.
Madam Goh, who spoke in a mix of English and Mandarin, said she noticed two men standing outside, watching the match.'After about half an hour, they started shouting and uttering vulgarities at each other.'
Madam Goh said that the men began punching one another. Concerned that the coffee shop's business might be affected and other people might be hurt, she told the men to go somewhere else to argue. The men continued their fight in front of Holland Village Shopping Mall, opposite the coffee shop.
Madam Goh said that she decided to go and break up the fight as she was afraid the men would get hurt. She said: 'The other patrons were too engrossed in the match to notice what was going on. I was scared.'When she got closer, she saw that one man had a knife in his hand. Madam Goh told Shin Min Daily News: 'I saw them fighting for the knife. I thought they wouldn't hurt me since I was a woman, so I told them to put the knife down.'She told The New Paper that she tried to push the men apart. Next thing she knew, one of the men had been stabbed in the abdomen. 'The injured man's hands were covered with blood,' she said.
Madam Goh moved the injured man to one side. She said: 'I then took him to wash his wounds in the toilet in the shopping centre basement. I rushed back to the coffee shop to get medicine from the first-aid box for his wounds.'By the time she got back, the man was gone. His attacker had run off earlier. When asked if the fight had anything to do with her, Madam Goh said no, the men got into an argument while watching the football match. She said she did not know either of them, but had seen them at the coffee shop before.
She added that they were both about 1.6m tall and wore long-sleeved shirts.
